Independent sourcing service. Not wick buildings, not a manufacturer or an authorized dealer, and not affiliated with wick buildings. We source and compare alternative products; we do not claim to supply the original brand. GridPath Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner.

GridPath Sourcing scope review before factory quotations

GridPath Sourcing reads a wick buildings search as a prompt to compare independently proposed steel systems for warehouses, workshops, and hangars. The service is a written scope check. It is not a builder appointment and it is not a supply of the named brand. Send project requirements when the six fields below are known, even if a load value is still marked unknown.

Send Project Requirements
  1. Building use and occupancy
  2. Footprint, eave height, bay spacing
  3. Wind, snow, seismic criteria if available
  4. Code jurisdiction and site location
  5. Quantity and release phasing
  6. Destination and who receives the truck

Shell package beside a broader scope

The two columns are scope labels, not two named models and not two prices. A cell that says buyer means that work stays outside the factory package until a supplier writes it in. A wick buildings comparison often stalls here because a published figure and a local erection number are not the same commercial object.

LineShell or kitInstalled or turnkey ask
Primary frameHot-rolled rigid frame, reactions listedSame frame, plus anchor layout for the foundation interface
Secondary framingPurlin and girt spacing statedSame members, plus openings coordinated with doors
EnvelopeRoof and wall panels, coating namedInsulated metal panel with thermal transmittance for that assembly
FoundationBuyer, unless the quote says otherwiseStill often local; ask before folding it into one total
Crane and liftExcludedCrane lift plan and crane beam only if specified
Freight and taxSeparate line to the destinationSeparate line; installation does not absorb freight

A lower shell number can sit next to a larger installed number without either one being a market discount. GridPath Sourcing has no paired quotations to publish a percentage difference. Return to the inquiry cards if the form of building is still open.

Volumetric modular construction can finish more work off site, but the transport envelope and the crane lift plan become the constraint. Panelized construction may pack more efficiently and then expose the site to weather while girts and panels are assembled. Neither path is chosen by this desk. The brief only records which path the buyer wants priced, and whether a standard bay or a custom clear span is required.

Documents each supplier should attach

  • DWG

    Frame and secondary drawings

Member sizes, clear span, eave height, and bay spacing on the sheet that matches the quote revision.

  • LOAD

    Design criteria sheet

Design live load, design dead load, wind speed, wind exposure category, ground snow load, and seismic design category, each with the code edition used.

  • WELD

    Weld and steel references

Ask whether AWS D1.1 and AISC 360 are the standards the shop applied to this frame. A homepage mention is not the shop packet.

  • QA

    Plant quality file

If IAS AC472 or ISO 9001 is offered, the file should name the plant and the date range. This desk does not hold those certificates.

HUD Code applies to manufactured housing, not to a steel warehouse or hangar. IBC or IRC, when they apply, are confirmed for the project location. A module-home approval is not evidence that a rigid frame is accepted on an industrial site. Ask the supplier which document covers the quoted system, and keep ASCE 7 as the load reference the engineer names rather than a slogan on a brochure.

Questions buyers ask while the quotes are open

Which costs must stay outside the frame price?

Freight to the destination, duties if the route crosses a border, sales tax, foundation concrete, permits, and a crane that the quote did not name. Putting them in one blended figure makes the next supplier look expensive for doing more work.

What if the wind speed is still unknown?

Mark it unknown and give the city or county. A factory assumption is only an assumption until the authority having jurisdiction or the project engineer states the criterion. Do not treat one wind speed as a GridPath default for every US site.

Where does an optional budget go?

An optional budget can be an amount or a range, in a named currency, per unit or for the whole order. It is a buyer target. It is not a quoted price and not a verified reduction. High-end, mid-range, budget, or undecided is a preference, not a plant score.

Who accepts a substituted girt or a different door?

The buyer and the project engineer accept deviations. The desk can list them. It does not award the job or certify that a fire-resistance rating has been met.

Ask factories after the scope is one page

Use the form to send the occupancy, the feet, the destination, and the timing. GridPath Sourcing can then request quotations on that basis. Missing lines stay missing until you or the supplier fill them.

The desk reviews the written scope and can ask factories for quotations on that basis. Read the Privacy Policy. Stock, price, code compliance, and brand compatibility stay unconfirmed until a named supplier answers the exact system.
