Independent alternative sourcing

Wick buildings alternatives for warehouses and hangars

GridPath Sourcing independently organizes factory quotations for alternative warehouses, workshops and hangars. We are not Wick Buildings, a manufacturer, dealer or affiliate. Start with six project fields so every factory answers one written scope.

The referenced company describes wood-frame post-frame buildings. Our steel-frame catalog uses a different structural route. Your project engineer must approve material, load-path and foundation changes; similar cladding does not establish equivalence.

What gets lined up before any factory is asked

These are checklist actions, not measured plant output. GridPath Sourcing does not publish a founding year, a tonnage figure, or a customer count.

  • 1

Keep the searched name as a reference only

Write the searched name in the brief as the comparison prompt. Ask factories for an independently proposed steel system and obtain project approval of any material or structural change. Do not write the request as an order for that brand’s own building.

  • 2

Separate the primary frame from secondary framing

A rigid frame in hot-rolled steel and a purlin or girt in cold-formed steel are different line items. A quotation that blends them hides the coating and the span assumptions.

  • 3

    Hold four commercial scopes apart

Shell, delivered, installed, and turnkey answers cannot sit in one total. Foundation interface, crane lift plan, and utility rough-in move the number even when the clear span stays the same.

  • 4

Ask which file belongs to the quoted system

AISC 360, AWS D1.1, IAS AC472, and ISO 9001 are requests, not badges of this desk. The supplier should tie each file to the plant, the system, and the project jurisdiction.

Inquiry options in the reviewed catalog

The three cards are buyer-defined options under Steel Warehouses, Workshops and Hangars. An empty photo on a later catalog row means no image is on file. It does not mean a building is in stock.

Steel warehouse with dock doors and a rigid eave

Steel Warehouse Building

Door height, dock approach, and collateral load from sprinklers belong in the warehouse brief before a price is requested.

Industrial workshop with an open gable end

Industrial Workshop Building

A crane or a mezzanine changes the primary frame. Say whether that equipment is inside the shell or left to a later trade.

Wide steel hangar door opening on an empty apron

Steel Aircraft Hangar

Clear door width and tail height drive the end wall. Confirm whether the door leaf is in the quoted package.

Uses that change the purchase lines

WH

Distribution warehouse

Dock doors, floor load, and future rack height set eave height.

WS

Fabrication workshop

Bridge-crane reactions belong on the frame sheet, not in a note after award.

HG

Aircraft hangar

Door stack and clear opening can exceed the wall girt design used on a warehouse.

YD

Yard enclosure

A partial-height wall and a different wind exposure category need their own lines.

Counts used as a checklist, not as performance

None of these figures is a savings rate, a delivery record, or a count of factories under contract.

Illustrative RFQ, not a customer record: a 120 ft long by 80 ft wide warehouse, 22 ft eave height, 30 ft bay spacing along the length and an 80 ft clear span for racking. Load criteria stay unknown until the project engineer supplies them. Ask every factory to repeat those dimensions and the destination, and mark primary frame, purlins, foundation, freight and erection as included, excluded or open. No quotation is presented here and no supplier is selected by this example.

Send the brief and ask for factory quotations

GridPath Sourcing will organize the questions. Price, availability, and code acceptance stay with the supplier and the project professionals. An optional budget, with currency and a per-unit or whole-order basis, plus a high-end, mid-range, budget, or undecided preference, can travel with the form.

The desk reviews the written scope and can ask factories for quotations on that basis. Read the Privacy Policy. Stock, price, code compliance, and brand compatibility stay unconfirmed until a named supplier answers the exact system.
